Acupuncture

In Asian medical theory electrical pathways, or meridians, are highways of communication between our bodies different systems. When there is blockage in the flow of energy, from stress, physical or emotional injury, the meridians become congested and we feel tension, pain and/or other symptoms. By removing the obstacles that impede the flow of function, a proper acupuncture treatment guides the body to repair itself.

Acupuncture is one part of a tradition within a whole person approach to medicine. There are numerous studies and thousands of years of documentation that support its' efficacy. Some of this research will be posted here in my research blog. Through the knowledgeable insertion of needles the body can access it’s natural ability to resist infection, achieve higher degrees of function, change the states of pain, improve physical, mental, digestive energy, and experience more fluidity in one’s emotional responses to the world.

Acupuncture is a modality designed to address all aspects of health and is recognized by the World Health Organization to help with the following:

  • Pain: acute and subacute, injuries, sciatica, arthritis, and postoperative recovery
  • Eye, ear, nose, throat disorders such as sinusitis, and allergies
  • Gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable bowel disorder, colitis, diarrhea, constipation, and gastritis
  • Gynecological disorders such as PMS, painful or irregular menses, endometriosis, menopause, fibroids, morning sickness, infertility
  • Immune disorders such as chronic fatigue, lupus, MS, Hashimotos, and Crohn’s
  • Skin conditions: such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne
  • Circulatory disorders such as high blood pressure
  • Addictions with smoking and alcohol
  • Emotional and Psychological disorders such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, stress
  • Neurological dysfunctions: which include; headaches, dizziness, vertigo, and shingles
  • Chronic degenerative diseases: diabetes and heart disease
  • Pediatric conditions which may include: allergies, asthma, eczema, cough, immune and digestive functioning
  • Oncology side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy

Herbal Support

Refined and documented over time, the detailed use of medicinal herbs in Asia can be traced back over 4000 years. Properly sourced, formulated and administered, herbal formulas can support your immune system, strengthen muscles and bones and stimulate the healing of damaged tissue. Herbs have been used to improve digestion, help with concentration, memory and the management of physical, emotional, and mental stress. They can also support endocrine function in situations of painful periods, irregular periods, boost fertility, and manage menopausal changes.

Asian herbal pharmacopeia include: roots, bark, leaves, flowers, seeds, and in some instances animal products. If the body is depleted from stress, age, or certain conditions, strengthening through the proper use of tonic formulas are best to replenish reserves and build vitality. For acute conditions, like bacterial or viral infections, formulas that assist the immune system are best.

We use high quality herbs sourced from companies who have passed through the herbal industry’s most rigorous testing standards and inspection processes. Tests include analysis for heavy metals, dangerous pesticides, sulfur dioxide, aflatoxins and aristolochic acid.

Nutritional Support

In todays' world it has become more and more difficult to achieve and maintain optimal levels of nutrients vital for our bodies systems to thrive.

Many factors contribute to this: pesticide and herbicide use, soil nutrient depletion from overuse of crop fields, heavy metal toxicity, additional exposures to concentrated environmental toxins, ingesting overly processed foods that are lacking in proper nutritional value, over use of refined sugars, over use of improperly processed wheat, GMO soy and corn.

A lifetime of eating these types of foods contribute to many of the 'disease' conditions we see today. These tendencies are passed down to our children.

Without the proper nutrients and foods to help our systems run efficiently, they begin to break down. One way this shows up is in a compromised immune system. A compromised immune system then becomes susceptible to parasite infestations, chronic infections and chronic inflammation issues. If not addressed it can lead to more serious health conditions.

We offer nutritional guidance and support by educating our clients.

Functional Medical Lab Diagnostics

Functional Medicine lab diagnostics hone in on specific physiological and metabolic pathways in order to more accurately pin point the system that may be in distress.
We can then recommend supplementation based on these findings.

Typical tests include: Gastrointestinal panels, adrenal stress index, inflammation bio markers, hormone panels and food/environmental sensitivities
